Getting ready for prom is super exciting, so we are here with a few tips to make the process as fun as possible without the stress! From trialling your hair and makeup to borrowing family vintage jewellery and breaking in your shoes, there is plenty you can do to get ready for the big day. You will remember this night for your whole life and you deserve to feel your best. So, let’s find out how to make it happen.
Trial Your Hair and Makeup
The first thing you need to do in preparation for prom is trial your hair and makeup. Whether you are doing it yourself or having someone else do it, trialling beforehand is so important! The last thing you want is to leave it until the day and to not be happy with the look, so in the weeks running up to prom, try out a few different styles of hair and makeup or have a professional hair and makeup trial. This will help you to feel prepared for prom and you can also get any extra things you need with plenty of time.
Wear Family Jewellery
You’re likely to choose your dress far in advance, but people often leave their jewellery to the last minute! A great tip we have is to wear vintage family jewellery if you have it, as it will add something really special to your outfit and it will finish off the look beautifully. This could be a vintage emerald ring, dress rings or even costume jewellery and then you can start a tradition that is passed down from generation to generation.
Make Pre-Prom Plans
Next up, you should definitely make pre-prom plans far in advance. The last thing you want is to try and organise it the week or the day of prom and find it hard to get transport or to find that people already have other plans. You could have people over to your house for photos, drinks and a few snacks before and organise a party bus for you all to get there together. This will make the night all the more special!
Break In Your Shoes!
One of our most important tips in your prom preparations is to break in your shoes! This is key, as if they are really really uncomfortable, you will have time to change them. However, most times they simply need wearing in. Wear them around the house for a few hours a few times. You could wear socks to help stretch the shoes out slightly, to make them more comfortable and this will also help to stop blisters from forming.
Before you put them on to stretch them out, blow dry your shoes for a couple of minutes and this will make them less stiff, so it will be more comfortable when you’re wearing them in. Whether you are wearing flats or heels, this is equally important!
Prom is a big moment in your life, so it is best to be prepared so you can just enjoy it and have fun!
